What we do

What is HELP?

Health Equality Lifestyle Plan (HELP) is Coventry’s community based cardiac rehabilitation (rehab) programme designed for people with heart disease. The HELP programme hosts a number of healthy heart projects and was initially aided by lottery funding.

What are the goals of cardiac rehab?

It has been shown that coming to cardiac rehab can help heart patients to manage their condition and improve their health. The cardiac rehab team can offer support and information on  the following :

  • aerobic exercise
  • quitting smoking
  • cholesterol control
  • blood pressure control
  • understanding medication
  • diabetes control
  • healthy eating
  • health at every size
  • stress management

Who is on the cardiac rehab team?

Our cardiac rehabilitation team is made up of heart specialists with a wide range of expertise and experience and includes:

  • cardiac rehabilitation nurses
  • exercise physiologists
  • dietitians
  • pharmacist
  • clinical psychologist
  • trained patient volunteers

A cardiac nurse will be in touch with you in the early stages of your recovery.

Health Fair

You will receive an invitation to one of our regular health fairs.

  • Venue

    Coventry Sports & Leisure Centre, Fairfax Street.
  • Day & Time

    Will be confirmed by letter (approximately every 12 weeks)

This is a half day health fair that gives you and your family a chance to meet the HELP team, other heart patients and our trained volunteers. Come along to chat, pick up leaflets and listen to the talks which include:

  • the heart, heart disease and medication
  • healthy eating
  • stress & wellbeing
  • physical activity
  • basic life support
